Feet

Feet are examples of God’s creativity:

“How beautiful are your feet with sandals, O Prince’s daughter…the work of the hands of a cunning craftsman.”   (SS 7:1)

Precious are the feet of God’s chosen ones.

He will guard the feet of His saints.”   (1SM 2:9)

They can provide direct connection to Almighty God:

“So when the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, He called to him from the midst of the bush and said ‘Moses, Moses!’  And he said “Here I am.”  Then He said, ‘Do not draw near this place.  Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.”   (EX 3:4-5)

“I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry.  He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock...”   (PS 40:1-2)   “The LORD is my rock.”  (PS 18:2)

Feet can deliver His Word and Good News:

“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that brings good tidings, that publishes peace; that brings good tidings of good, that publishes salvation; that says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”   (IS 52:7)

“…How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the Gospel of peace, that bring glad tidings of good things!”  (RO 10:15)

“Stand therefore…having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.”   (EP 6:14-15)

They can proclaim righteous judgment:

“…He brings down those that dwell on high; the lofty city.  He lays it low…The foot shall tread it down; even the foot of the poor, and the steps of the needy.”   (IS 26:5-6)

“And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.”   (MT 10:14)

Our feet are clearly special—sometimes sacred, so should be cared for even honored!

“Jesus arises from supper, and laid aside His garments, and took a towel, and girded Himself.  After that He pours water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith He was girded.“   (JN 13:4-5)    “For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.”    (JN 13:15)

“Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair.  And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.   (JN 12:3)
